Recently, I heard the Spirit of the Lord say, "There is an overturn." I quickly began to search for further clarity on what He was conveying to me. Overturn is defined as, "to destroy the power of; overthrow; defeat, vanquish. To turn over on its side, face, or back; upset."
There is an "overturn" coming for many who are reading this word. In fact, it has already begun, and you will see the manifestation of this promise! Your circumstances have looked one way but God is flipping it over. There is a new perspective that is going to be seen. The enemy's plans are being reversed.
When a judicial ruling is overturned, the verdict, or what looked like was the finality on the matter, is thrown out and reversed. God has overturned the verdict of the enemy in your situation.
The Paralytic
Recorded in the second chapter of Mark, is the story of a man who was a paralytic. In this passage, Jesus was in a house preaching the Word, and the place was packed. The paralyzed man had heard that Jesus was in town and believed that if he could get to Jesus, he would receive healing.
There were four men carrying the paralytic to the meeting, but they encountered resistance getting him to Jesus. The enemy will always try to cause circumstances that will hinder us from getting our breakthrough.
There were so many people gathered in the house that in Mark 2:2 it says, "...there was no room to receive them..." The men got to the house and they were "outside" looking in. There was no room for them. Some of you who are reading this right now, know exactly how it feels to be on the outside. You are not in the click or the club, and no matter how hard you try, you cannot seem to fit. God never intended for you to be one of the "insiders." God is raising up unexpected people.
The Four Men
In this story, these four men carried the paralytic only to realize there was no room for them. The paralyzed man had the right associations in his life. Make sure that those around you are carrying you to Jesus and not away from Him. When it looked like there was no way, most people would have said, "Sorry, there's nothing more we can do." Not these four. They carried the lame man up to the roof. The roofs during this time were built flat with stairs on the outside of the house. They were used much like we would use a deck or porch today.
Breaking Through to a New Move
"And when they could not come nigh unto Him for the press, they uncovered the roof where He was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay." (Mark 2:4)
There will always be obstacles that try to keep you out of what God has for you, but your faith and determination will overcome every obstruction. These men "broke open" the roof. You too are an "unlocker." You have been called, as a Believer, to break open things in the Spirit. These men were used to break open the roof to unleash the power of God to save and heal their friend. It is your time to press into God's purpose for you, your family, your church, your city and a generation.
You have been given the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. You are an unlocker. You have the authority through the finished work of Jesus to bring Heaven to Earth. Many have been kept out, but God is giving Kingdom "strategies" to take you in. The four men lowered their friend down through the roof to get to Jesus. This strategy was outside of the box. Their faith and determination broke through to a "New Move."
There is a New Move of God that is being birthed on the earth. God is doing a new thing. We have not seen the best days of revival yet.
Offending the Religious
"When Jesus saw their faith, He said unto the sick of the palsy, 'Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.' But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts..." (Mark 2:5-6)
When God begins to move in a new way, it always offends religious people. The scribes began to "reason in their hearts." They did not like Jesus moving in a new way. Jesus then "perceived in His Spirit" what the scribes were thinking and rebuked them for believing that He could heal the man but not forgive his sins.
"I say unto thee, 'Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, 'We never saw it on this fashion.'" (Mark 2:11-12)
"Arise"
Jesus told the man, "Arise." I can hear Him saying to many of you today, "It is time to rise up from everything that has held you back. Rise up from your past. Rise up from your brokenness. It is time for you to rise up!"
He instructed the man to "take up thy bed." God is saying to you, "It is time for you to master what used to master you." The man was no longer confined to the bed. He carried what used to carry him. The bed was the man's testimony of what Jesus had done for him. Don't ever hide your testimony.
I love that part in Mark 2:12 where it says, "immediately he arose." God is releasing suddenlies in your life. The verse continues with, "He went forth before them all." The very ones who kept you out are now going to have a front row seat to what God does in your life. They will all be amazed and say, "We have never seen it in this fashion." God is moving in a way that we have never seen before!
