Some things simply haven't happened yet because it's not time...but often we can and should move forward in what God has called us to and walk out our faith in Him.
As you read through this word, I pray it helps you to break off any delays in your life and helps you to walk toward your own breakthrough and promises in God! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
What if I told you that 3 reasons for delay in your life are choices you have total control over? I am going to share with you "God's Revelations" which I received from Him about the cause of these delays.
These revelations can cause a REVERSE in delay for you. In other words, you're about to read how you can experience some of the biggest paradigm shifts in your life.
Reason #1 – Pursuing the Promise Instead of God
God asked me if I'd ever seen a deer hunter chase after a deer. My answer was "No" because the deer would run away from the hunter. You may be wondering what this has to do with your delay.
If you have been in a pattern of delay for weeks, months or even years, ask yourself, "Have I been chasing what God desires for me to experience?"
For example, if you want something or need something, is it possible you don't believe you've already received it? God promises in Philippians 4:19, "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Does God want you to doubt Him or trust Him at His Word? He is faithful and trustworthy. He says what He does and does what He says. God has promised you that He has ALREADY given you all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). Why not believe God at His Word?
Now, you're going to find out what you can do instead of wanting, needing, or "having to have" anything.
Reason #2 – What You Magnify Will Manifest
Have you ever heard someone complain about their problems year after year? Their focus is on their problems instead of God's promises.
The more you magnify anything, the more it continues to manifest. What you feed will grow. Instead of magnifying the delay, what you can do is choose to be content and thankful for what you already have.
God showed me that contentment, thankfulness, appreciation and gratitude are all attractive. But NOT being content, thankful, appreciative or grateful REPELS what God desires for you.
Complaining about the delay can stop what we desire to happen in our lives. Complaining and griping about our situation is also unattractive, so let's be intentional from now on and choose to be content at all times.
1 Timothy 6:6 reveals a KEY to our breakthrough: "Now godliness with contentment is great gain." Just like complaining is a choice, being content is also a choice, right?
Reason #3 – Doing It Your Way Instead of God's Way
The three words I've heard from the Lord this year more than any other words are "FOLLOW MY LEAD."
Sounds like God, doesn't it? If you truly want to follow His lead, then take Jesus' advice in Mark 8:34: "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
We can say we want to follow Him, but are we willing to deny ourselves? The Lord showed me that the more we obey Him, the less our will is going to come to pass. He also asked me to take the first three letters and the last three letters off of the word "OBEDIENCE." What do you see?
"DIE." Meaning, the more we obey God, the more we die to self. Either more of God's will is coming to pass in our lives or more of our own will. It's our choice.
Now that you know the 3 possible reasons for delay in your life and your choice of godly responses to them, you can be more expectant than ever before to see God's promises come to pass in your life.
Trust God instead of pursuing what He has promised you. Be intentional, be content, be thankful, be appreciative and be grateful instead of magnifying your delays.
Finally, from now on, commit to following God's lead instead of doing it your way.
