From the Desk of Steve Shultz:
I really appreciate Kim Potter taking on a tough but necessary subject about being "aligned" with the right people in our lives...this is so important. In fact, as Kim shares, it is vital:
I have had the word alignment on my mind for a few weeks now. Every few days, I will hear this still, quiet voice saying to me, "Alignment is vital."
I will leave you with what Kim Potter says here, and I highly encourage you to do this:
Seek God today and ask Him to show you any places in your life where you are not properly aligned with Him, His Word, His will, and His covenant relationships for your life. Alignment is important, actually, it is vital. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Alignment: an arrangement in a straight line, a position of agreement or alliance.
I have had the word alignment on my mind for a few weeks now. Every few days, I will hear this still, quiet voice saying to me, "Alignment is vital."
As we know, if our vehicles are out of alignment, they do not drive straight, they use more gas and they become unsafe if left out of alignment. The same is true for our bodies; if they are out of alignment, our bodies do not function properly and we often have pain and discomfort. Alignment is important in both of these areas. Just as alignment is important in our spiritual life as well.
Align with the Word of God
The first thing we must do is make sure we are in alignment with the Word of God. Psalm 119:89 says, "Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in Heaven." The Word is settled in Heaven and on earth, therefore, when we align ourselves and our lives with the Word of God, we are standing on a firm foundation. We are tied to a hope and a good future.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Complete and thoroughly equipped sounds good to me, doesn't it to you? The Word of God is alive and full of power, it has within it all we will ever need for correction, for instruction and for success on this earth. Alignment with the Word of God in our daily lives is therefore vital.
Isaiah 55:11 says, "So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
If we are walking in faith, obeying God's Word and aligning completely with it, we can have confidence that the Word of God in our lives will not return void, but it will accomplish what it is sent to do. We have God's Word on it and He cannot lie.
Align with the Right People
Once you are rightly aligned with God's Word, you must also make sure you are aligned with the right people in your life, especially spiritually speaking. It is not a good thing to align with people who are NOT aligned with God.
2 Corinthians 6:14 says, "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?"
Verse 17 says, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." The word "unclean" is referring to being unclean in thought and life.
The Word of God is plain, yes, we are to witness to sinners and tell them about Jesus. However, in our daily walk, in those we choose to be in covenant with or allow to speak into our lives, they must first be aligned with God and His Word.
I will not align myself spiritually with someone who is in rebellion against God. I will not covenant with those who are not following God. I choose to align myself with those who are first and foremost aligned with God and His Word.
Sometimes it is hard to tell at first, who is truthfully aligned with God and who isn't. However, all you have to do is watch what they say and what they do, observe their fruit, and that will tell you all you need to know.
Alignment is Vital
Friends, I have talked a lot lately about having peace in our homes, and now I want you to also have peace in relationships, especially covenant relationships, and to do that you must carefully watch who you align with. Light and darkness cannot mix. Make sure you are aligned with God and His Word and then, choose close friends who are also aligned with God and His Word. This will bring strength and stability to all involved.
Just as a vehicle is unsafe when misaligned, so are spiritual friendships. Just as the body is weak and in pain when it is misaligned, so are covenant relationships.
Seek God today and ask Him to show you any places in your life where you are not properly aligned with Him, His Word, His will, and His covenant relationships for your life. Alignment is important, actually, it is vital. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
