December 13, 2017 "Prepare the Way For the Lord!" Kim Potter, Dayton, TN From the Desk of Steve Shultz: As we are almost at the start of a new year, it's always a good time to reflect on our lives...where we are now and where we want to go. And it's always a good time to LET GO of the past as God leads us into the new. This word by Kim Potter is full of important keys to help you "prepare the way for the Lord" as she shares: "In my spirit, I can hear it: the commotion, the preparation—the angels of the Lord rushing around saying, 'Prepare the way, He is coming! Prepare the way!' ...My God is coming with power and He is coming with my reward and yours. What reward? Our reward for standing in faith, for refusing to back off the Word, and for sowing and giving when it was a sacrifice. God is coming and He is coming to reward His people." Amen to that! Read about this and more which will help you to prepare the way for the Lord leading into this new year. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.) Please forward this word to your friends! Kim Potter, Dayton, TN Prepare Ye the Way A familiar song has been in my spirit for days and I can't stop singing it! I don't want to stop singing it. The song is, "Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord." In my spirit, I can hear it: the commotion, the preparation—the angels of the Lord rushing around saying, "Prepare the way, He is coming! Prepare the way!" No, I am not talking about the rapture or the coming of the Lord in that manner. What I sense in my spirit today is the coming of the Lord as described in Isaiah 40:1-10. This is a word for each of us today, hear and receive it. Isaiah 40:3-10 (KJV) says, "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. The voice said, Cry. And he said, what shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God! Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him: behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him." Make a Road for the Lord The Living Bible Translation says it a little different. (Oh! You are going to love this!) "Listen! I hear the voice of someone shouting, 'Make a road for the Lord through the wilderness; make Him a straight, smooth road through the desert. Fill the valleys; level the hills; straighten out the crooked paths, and smooth off the rough spots in the road. The glory of the Lord will be seen by all mankind together.' The Lord has spoken-it shall be." (Isaiah 40:3-5) How do we "make a road for the Lord?" We do that by removing anything and everything from our lives that would hinder the way of the Lord. One translation says, "Remove all the obstacles out of His way." Next, we are told to "shout" in Isaiah 40:6-10: "'What shall I shout?' I asked. "Shout that man is like the grass that dies away, and all his beauty fades like dying flowers. The grass withers, the flower fades beneath the breath of God. And so it is with fragile man. The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God shall stand forever. "O crier of good news, shout to Jerusalem from the mountaintops! Shout louder—don't be afraid-tell the cities of Judah, 'Your God is coming!' Yes, the Lord God is coming with mighty power; He will rule with awesome strength. See, His reward is with Him, to each as He has done." Raise Your Voice! It's time to shout and to raise our voices! But what do we shout? Exactly what the Scripture says that, "...things on this earth may fade away, but the WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER" (Isaiah 40:8). What does that mean for us? It means, whatever has been standing in the way of the manifestation of the Word of God in your life, speak to it, shout to it—prophesy to it! It must fade away and the Word of God must come forth in manifestation. And finally, the Scripture says: "Your God is coming!" Yes, the Lord God is coming with mighty power. He will rule with awesome strength. See, His reward is with Him, to each as he has done" (Isaiah 40:10). My goodness! I don't know about you, but I love this word from God today. My God is coming with power and He is coming with my reward and yours. What reward? Our reward for standing in faith, for refusing to back off the Word, and for sowing and giving when it was a sacrifice. God is coming and He is coming to reward His people. Take Hold of These Important Keys: Today I want to encourage you to take hold of these three important keys from this passage of Scripture: 1. Remove Any Obstacles. Do you have any obstacles in the way? Do you have unbelief, doubt, disappointment, unforgiveness or even sin in your life? If so they are, indeed, obstacles and they must be removed. This is part of preparing the way of the Lord. It may not be any of what I have listed above. It may be busyness. It may even be family and friends. It doesn't have to be something bad. It could simply be something that is taking your time and focus off God. But, whatever is standing in the way of your focus of the Lord and what He is doing in this season, remove it. 2. Shout! Whatever has been standing in the way of the manifestation of the Word of God in your life, speak to it, shout to it, and prophesy to it. 3. Expect. God is coming and He is coming to reward His people. He is coming with power for those who are watching, waiting and looking to Him. Be expectant! This, my friend, is a word for you today. Grab hold of it and run with it. I believe with all that is within me that God is saying, "Prepare the way! I am coming and My reward is with Me." It is time to prophesy and shout! It is time to declare the Word of God. It is time to prepare the way of the Lord by lifting your voice and declaring His coming. It is time! It is time!
