From the Desk of Steve Shultz:

Steve ShultzThere are times we all could use a "reset and reboot" right? This latest word by Cynthia Murray is a great reminder of allowing ourselves to do this from time to time.

So often, we can get bogged down by the cares and concerns of this world. Could you use a "fresh" and practical perspective in some areas? Here is what Cynthia shares:

Perhaps you find yourself in one of these circumstances of even a different situation in which you feel that all hope is lost. You're too far gone and you can never get back to where you were. I want to encourage you that not only can you go back to your former "healthy" state, but God can take you above and beyond where you were! He is into restoration, but God always improves during His renovations!

God CAN take you above and beyond. So go ahead and take the time to "refresh" your memory on all that God can do for you! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Resetting and Rebooting

The other day the Lord said to me, "I will help you reset and reboot!" I knew exactly what He meant, as I lamented over barely being able to do something that I used to do so well – in fact, it's something that I used to teach! Just when I was feeling down on myself, God spoke those words to me. It was an "Aha" moment, for sure. He was going to help me get back to my original state.

I understood His lingo about resetting and rebooting in the context of technology. If you own a smart phone or even a computer you know that oftentimes a problem on your apparatus can be easily fixed by simply turning it off, letting it rest for a few minutes and then turning it back on again – in effect rebooting it. God wants to reset many of us in our lives by leading us to pause, rest a bit in Him, and then start over again fresh.

So, what is it that can cause us to slow down or get stuck like a smart phone in the first place? Well, perhaps it's too much data that you're storing in your mind and heart. Could it be that you're holding on to old feelings, thoughts and mindsets that are no longer useful or relevant to your life? You don't need to carry around all of the things that fill your mind, will and emotions to capacity and slow you down (or shut you down)!

After the Lord spoke to me, I knew that the word of encouragement was not just for me, but for the Church. There may be different areas in your life in which you need to be reset by the Holy Spirit:

Health

It's never too late to make positive changes in your health. God is always ready, willing and able to help you live your best life now. I've heard many people say after they made an effort to eat right, exercise and otherwise take care of themselves, that they feel better and more energetic now than they did in their twenties.

Periodic fasting is always a great way to reboot your immune system and get that flesh under control and have power to deliver and be delivered from some things. Jesus told the disciples that this "kind" (meaning demon) doesn't come out except by prayer and fasting (see Mark 9:29).

Relationships

Sometimes we may need to reboot our relationships because they can become stale, boring or simply off course, because we don't nurture them as we should. For spouses, be willing to turn back the hands of time and go back to the days of courtship and infuse romance into the relationship once again. The Bible says, "May your fountain be blessed and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth" (Proverbs 5:18). Don't be shy...you should enjoy each other to the fullness of what God intended!

For other kinds of important personal relationships such as with parents, children, siblings and friends, it is also advisable to be open and willing to improve the relationship by being intentional to show love, honor and respect to the other person. This may mean asking for forgiveness or simply rekindling the friendship that may have been lost.

Luke 15:11-32 tells a powerful story of reconciliation between a father and his prodigal son. Likewise, Jacob (Israel) and Esau once were estranged to the point of murderous thoughts, but in the end they reconciled and fell upon each other to forgive and embrace.

Finances

All is not necessarily lost simply because you made some bad financial decisions or because you were hit with a crippling financial blow in your personal finances, business or investments. Don't allow those hard times to cause you to withhold your tithing and giving, as the enemy would love for you to do that. If you need to repent for poor stewardship, just do so! If you need to make payment arrangements to various creditors, go ahead and contact them. Your effort to do the right thing with your finances will please and honor God. He is able to work quickly to turn your negative situation around in a major way! Just choose to trust God and believe Him.

I recall a few years back, ministering to a woman in one of our meetings in Divine Women of Destiny. She was about to lose her home in foreclosure and the bank was unwilling to work with her at all! Just then, the Lord gave me a word of knowledge that she was not tithing and that her financial woes began when her and her husband stopped tithing. The Lord told her that if she would repent and commit to tithing again, He would not cause her to lose her home...and do you know what? That is exactly what happened! As soon as she made the decision in her heart to obey God in this area of tithing, the bank actually called her and apologized for initiating the process of foreclosure on her home! They drastically lowered her monthly payment and interest rate, which thereby allowed their family to stay in their home. Glory to God!

God Wants to Take You Above and Beyond Your Previous State

Perhaps you find yourself in one of these circumstances of even a different situation in which you feel that all hope is lost. You're too far gone and you can never get back to where you were. I want to encourage you that not only can you go back to your former "healthy" state, but God can take you above and beyond where you were! He is into restoration but God always improves during His renovations!

You'll be better than you were before! So today, take the time to ask God to reset and reboot you, so that He can take you from strength to strength and from glory to glory, in Jesus' name! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
