From the desk of Steve Shultz:
This is one powerful word, full of revelation for the harvest and incredible tesimonies of seeing God's heart for lost souls.
Remember, Jesus went after "the one" and teaches us all to do the same.
I'll keep this short and let you get right to reading this word...my hope is that you are empowerd by this statement by Todd Bentley:
We're always living for what's coming later. We're always prophesying about the future day. The day is here. The greatest harvest is here, right now. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"Are We Travailing For Souls?"
Todd Bentley, Charlotte, NC
We want to travail for souls. I believe we can birth some souls, even in our family. There are some principles that I want to share with you about how to pray strategically for your family and for lost souls. I can honestly say that my father and mother and others in my family have come to know Jesus because I've learned some principles about how to "pray in and birth" lost souls.
We're going to talk about travailing and what that means, and we're going to pray for the spirit of travail. God is impregnating us with His heart for the lost because we don't have God's heart. If we are not compelled into the streets by having a revelation of God's heart with a real sense of urgency for the lost, then we can't effectively pray for the lost.
Crying Out to God for Souls
I think in North America, we really haven't yet touched the kind of travail that I've seen around the world. For example when I go into Africa, they will rent a house in the city where we're going to have a crusade – sometimes a whole week before I even get there. The intercessors are praying in that house 24 hours a day and for seven full days, some of them without sleeping for days. They won't have any food, only water, and they'll just pray.
"We need to become so impregnated with the vision in the heart of God for souls, that we become broken under the burden of the Lord to want to see a lost and dying world saved." |
Even during the crusade, they give up being in the meetings so they can serve God in prayer for those that are going to get saved as I give altar calls. Most of the time, they just are weeping. It sounds like wailing women as you get close to the house – just wailing. There are men in there too and for the most part, you can't even hear what they're saying because they're so passionate.
At times they have even been under the crusade platform crying out to God for souls. I remember one time they said, "Todd, we'd like to take you to bless the intercessors. They couldn't be in the meeting. Would you go into this place where they've been praying day and night?" I didn't even know this was going on because they do it so secretly.
An Atmosphere of Tangible Presence
I remember taking a small team with us to this intercessor's house. When I walked in the door, I almost felt like I was stepping into cobwebs. It was so thick as my face went into the room, and it was like something came over my body like a blanket. I was wiping it off because I thought maybe this isn't real, but it kept coming. In fact it was so real, I felt the hand combing the back of my head, which sent tingles all the way down my body, and it was like an invisible hand stroking my back. That's how strong the presence was. That's how real the atmosphere was, and every single person that was with me felt the same thing.
Talk about tangible presence of God! There was such a spirit of travail, they just instantly would fall to the ground and weep and pray and cry out for souls. Nobody wanted to leave that place.
I've been around the world. I've been to all kinds of prayer places and never...(continue reading)
