Folks, as you know we are in a crucial and critical moment in our nation this very hour.
The confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh is hanging in the balance and now more than ever we must pray, pray and then pray some more!
I appreciate Andy Sanders writing up this word yesterday and sending it to us as a NOW word for the Body of Christ.
Please read through it and pass it on to all of your fellow prayer warrior friends. This is an "all hands on deck" week for the Body to arise in prayer together. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
Washington D.C. news has always been a key conversation piece throughout the world. Lately, with all of the events unfolding with the Supreme Court, it seems to be the main topic just about anywhere you go. There are many people weighing in on the Kavanaugh topic; so many that I don't believe it is necessary to voice my two-cents about the matter. I believe the discerning Christian now sees a whole new reality of just how ugly true spiritual battles between holy and evil can be.
It is crystal clear that we, as Christians, must hold up our government leaders more than ever before. There is an all-out attack on anything that has Christian values attached to it once it goes near the American political arena. Pray! Pray! Pray!
"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." (Romans 13:1 NIV)
"...the tide is going to turn on some extremely key battles this year." |
I am not a historian or a politician—in fact, I am probably the last person in my circles to watch the news or get wind of what just happened at the White House today. But something else that is becoming obvious is that I believe Christians cannot separate the very foundation of how we live by God's holy Word and how we govern our lives and country through politics.
When we as Christians attempt to separate our governing state/country from our church life, it won't work. The Church should be the driving influence into the government of our land. In other words, if you separate your Christian views from the way you engage in governmental authority, you are operating at half capacity (For an example of this, see the Johnson Amendment of 1954). The government cannot keep Christians quiet concerning politics.
If you haven't figured it out yet, there is no way to separate your Christian conviction from your political views; they both are a major part of a Christian's way of life. I am not saying that you have to be active in political events all the time, rather be prayerful all the time for those who govern over us. How?
Be Prayerfully Proactive
1. Pray for godly guidance over those who are in office:
"For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers." (Proverbs 11:14 NIV)
2. Pray for those in office REGARDLESS of what they stand for.
"Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of Believers, fear God, honor the emperor." (1 Peter 2:17 NIV)
Just the other day, I was in a pastor's prayer group, and while we were all praying for our government, several spiritual truths were picked up through the leading of the Lord. For me, two items came to surface and I believe they are both crucial to how this political chaos will be overcome. Don't ever assume that the battle over some of the most powerful seats in our country will ever stop, and don't think that satan will ever just stop trying to destroy this country.
However, there are some key breakthroughs coming soon to governmental authorities, and Christians need to operate in a level of spiritual warfare unlike what we have been used to in the past.
There are distinct advances in the political realm that we must pray into right now. Here are also two breakthroughs that the Lord gave on a recent morning in prayer... (continue reading)
