"Get ready to see a great comeback of the sidelined prophets and prophetic voices in this season!" This is what I've been sensing Holy Spirit saying to me over the last month.
We are about to see the comeback of those who were sidelined, whether it be due to loss, grief, offense, bitterness, disappointment, betrayal, sickness, fear, anger. etc. God is releasing His "ruach" for a great comeback. God is going to revisit these ones with a fresh vision, a new assignment, and with a new hope.
The Sidelined Prophet
1 Samuel 15:10-11 states, "Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel: 'I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from Me and has not carried out My instructions.' Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night."
God's rejection of Saul was too much for Samuel to handle. Samuel became angry and cried out all night. Anger and grief sidelined the prophet Samuel. Saul was one whom Samuel poured out his life into, mentored, prophesied over, walked with, and yet, Saul rejected God and His word and ultimately disobeyed God, which led to his rejection.
Over the last couple of years, many prophets experienced the rejection of their "Saul," which has manifested in things like:
1. "It's not supposed to be this way."
2. "It didn't turn out to be the way I thought it would."
3. Mourning over what was, what could've been and should've been.
4. Regret, disappointment, anger, grief, rejection.
5. Unfulfilled promises.
There are many prophets who are stuck and sidelined, but get ready, because God is about to visit these ones in a fresh way.
The Revisitation
1 Samuel 16:1a says, "The Lord said to Samuel, 'How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel?'" While Samuel was sidelined from what happened, God visits Samuel and asks him a vital question: "How long will you mourn over Saul, since I have rejected him?"
There are many who are stuck in the past and not able to advance because they have been mourning over "Saul" – their loss, their past, what was, what should've been, and what could've been. God is going to release a grace to overcome for advancement in this season.
Fresh Assignments
1 Samuel 16:1b says, "Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king."
This is not Samuel's first time filling his horn with oil and journeying to anoint someone. That's exactly what he did with Saul. Samuel has to face his disappointment, grief, mourning, and anger. When God brings up the past, it's for redemption. God is going to allow the past to become present so what was lost can be recovered. Get ready to recover some things you lost in the past.
The Great Comeback
Then God says, "I sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king." Samuel takes up his horn and fills it with oil and heads to the house of Jesse in Bethlehem.
There are fresh assignments that these sidelined prophets are about to receive. God is visiting these ones to get them out of the past and into the future. He is healing and restoring hearts with with a new hope. Unfulfilled promises are about to be fulfilled. The sidelined prophets are coming back! It's going to be a great comeback!
Are You a Sidelined Prophet?
Get ready because God is about to visit you to heal your heart. You will receive new vision and new assignments to get you back into connection with the Body of Christ to release a fresh word in this season.
We call you forth from the sidelines and caves, back into the mainstream of the Spirit. Just as Samuel was sent to the house of Jesse – his family – we call you back into family and connectivity. I pray for the emergence of these prophetic voices to roar again, soar again. It's time for the GREAT COMEBACK! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
