"I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses." (Joshua 1:3)
Many have been feeling the unsettling swirl of the transition that is taking place. In the midst of it all, I hear the Lord saying, "Do not fear! I am bringing you into a whole new place."
The Tree Branch Is Lifting from Your Path
Several years ago, my husband and I simultaneously experienced the same vision. In the vision, the two of us were in a forest with many trees. We were walking on what seemed to be a familiar and common path, and there were other people, whom we knew were also walking along the same path as us. Suddenly, a tree branch lifted, revealing a new path. My husband and I both felt the nudge to get off the familiar path we were traveling on and venture onto the new one that had been revealed to us.
In the vision, we quickly slipped under the branch, and we were immediately on a whole new trail. Those who were on the familiar path became agitated with us as we continued walking forward in the new. Nevertheless, we kept moving forward, not looking back to what was once familiar to us.
Even as I'm writing this word now, I sense that we are in a kairos time. For many of us, a spiritual "tree branch" is going to lift, revealing the new.
Following Him into the Unknown
God is calling us to boldly follow Him into the unknown. As we do, we will be brought into a whole new place! The very things that many of us have been crying out and contending for (even for years at a time) are beginning to take shape.
Though transition can feel shaky, uncomfortable, and even messy at times, the Lord is calling us to embrace this new path and bravely journey forward with Him.
The beautiful thing is that we don't have to try to understand the divine plan or have all the details figured out, even though this looks like nothing we have ever known or experienced before. The Lord is calling His Bride to trust Him and follow His lead. Our Bridegroom will be faithful, even as we venture into the unknown. Abraham was a great example of this, as we read in Genesis 12:1:
"The Lord had said to Abram, 'Go from your country, your people, and your father's household to the land I will show you.'"
I'm also reminded of the children of Israel. They were so close to entering their promised land, yet instead of crossing over they murmured and complained, disobeying the Lord, and thus wandered in the wilderness for another 40 years.
Plowing New Ground to Leave a Legacy
Beloved, let's not make the same mistake. Exciting times are upon us, and God is bringing us into a good place: a land that is flowing with milk and honey, a land of abundance (Exodus 3:17). As we bravely give the Lord our 'yes' and follow where He leads us—journeying with Him on this new and unfamiliar path—we are plowing up new ground. This new ground will leave a legacy for the future generations that will one day come up behind and reap where we had so faithfully sown.
"I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor." (John 4:38)
Take Courage - You Will Finish With a Leap!
You have come too far now to quit. Refuse to get weary in well doing, and know that there are great and exciting things just ahead. God is bringing you into a whole new place, and others will be amazed by where He takes you. Take courage and keep moving forward, even though at times the path may seem dimly lit. Truly His light will break forth, shining and illuminating over all the darkness.
"Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard." (Isaiah 58:8)
In closing, I am reminded of a powerful word that the Lord had spoken to me in January—the very beginning of 2019. He told me that even though it may feel as though I started off this year with a limp, I would finish with a leap. That very thing is happening now, even as the year is quickly coming to a close.
Be encouraged, and know that you will surely finish victoriously! Continue to trust in the Lord as He leads you on this path, leaping toward the new with Him.
"With Your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall." (Psalm 18:29)
