Elaine Tavolacci, Staten Island, NY

From the Desk of Steve Shultz:

Steve ShultzThis is a WOW word that many of you will relate to.

There are times we feel spiritually dry, not excited about the things of God...causing our spiritual "fire" to burn out.

Elaine Tavolacci writes a key article about this and how you can rekindle your fire with the Lord again.

This is important...let's all do this together as we expect God's Spirit to pour out in a fresh way in this new season! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"Receive From God and Light the Fire Again"

Elaine Tavolacci, Staten Island, NY

Recently, the Holy Spirit showed me a picture of a camp fire that had died out, but underneath it the embers were still red hot. The embers radiated heat long after the fire was put out and could easily ignite again if they were stoked, poked or if wind blew upon them. The embers were smoldering, which means that they are still burning, yet without a flame.

Like this depiction, some of you have lost your zeal for the things of God and you need your fire to be rekindled.

In the book of Leviticus, and throughout the Old Testament, God sent fire down upon the offerings and sacrifices on the altars. Although the fire was kindled by God Himself, the priests had to continually keep it from ever dying out. This required a regular removal of the ashes and anything which would hinder the fire from burning. Jesus wants to ignite the fire in your life once again and remove anything that is preventing this fire from being rekindled.

Leviticus 9:23-24 (AMP), "Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory and brilliance of the Lord [the Shekinah cloud] appeared to all the people [as promised]. Then fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on the altar; and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell face downward [in awe and worship]."

An altar is prominent in the Bible as "God's table," a sacred place for sacrifices and offerings to God. Fire is used often as a symbol of God's presence with His holiness. The Lord sent fire on Elijah's sacrifice as he called upon Him to prove to the prophets of Baal that He was real. When David built an altar, the Lord sent His fire down on David's offering (1 Chronicles 21:26). (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)

In 2 Chronicles 7:1-3 it says, "When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from Heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the [Shekinah] glory and brilliance of the Lord filled the house. The priests could not enter the house of the Lord because the glory and brilliance of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. When all the people of Israel saw how the fire came down and saw the glory and brilliance of the Lord upon the house, they bowed down on the stone pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and praised the Lord, saying, 'For He is good, for His mercy and loving kindness endure forever.'"

Many people are calling down the fire of God in their lives but they are not willing to make a sacrifice. For others, the fire that was once burning on the inside of of them has been extinguished by the soot of the world, and they desire to be ignited once again. The apostle Paul said, "Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship" (Romans 12:1). The Lord wants to supernaturally ignite that flame inside of you.

Jeremiah said, "...But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not." (Jeremiah 20:9)

The Lord says... (continue reading)
