Tania A. Hall, Adelaide, Australia  "All in Judah were happy about this covenant, for they had entered into it with all their heart. They earnestly sought after God, and they found Him. And the Lord gave them rest from their enemies on every side." (2 Chronicles 15:15) King Asa of Judah was a good king in the sight of the Lord. His heart beat with complete devotion to God and he led His people into covenant to seek God wholeheartedly. Even foreigners recognized that God was with Asa and moved their homes to live in his kingdom, choosing to live amongst his people and under his reign. God brought Asa into a place of rest from his enemies to reward him for his obedience. God ordained Asa's rest. True Rest Comes from the Lord Just as God saw King Asa in his whole-hearted obedience, God has been watching you. God has been searching the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are completely loyal to Him and who follow His ways at all cost (2 Chronicles 16:9). His way is the way of truth (John 14:6). The way of truth is not always the easy way, but you can be assured that it is always the right way. You may feel like the battle has been long but now God is giving you rest from your enemies. An "enemy" is anything that has harmed you or caused you unrest. Rest comes from the Lord. "The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
B ringing honor to His name." (Psalm 23:1-3) Follow the Lord into the Place He Has Prepared for You It brings honor to God's name when He leads you in the way of life. Sheep are completely dependent on their shepherd for provision, guidance and protection, and God wants us to be like this too. As sheep, we are not passive frightened animals but obedient followers. God wants us to be wise enough to follow Him into the right places that He has prepared for us in the right ways. Our Father has gone before us and He has prepared the perfect place for us. We know His voice and in faith we obediently follow Him. You can be assured that when you follow the Lord into the place He has prepared for you, He will also provide for you. I traveled near the Middle East earlier this year and conducted a series of outdoor meetings. God told me before I went that He was going to teach me about provision. God confirmed my calling by unlocking His provision for where He was leading me. Sure enough, God met all my financial needs and even blessed me with about fifty items of brand new clothing of my liking. God truly knows how to provide for His children! Rely on Him and Trust His Process "Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon Jehovah, the God of their fathers." (2 Chronicles 13:18) Like Judah, God wants you to rely on Him and He doesn't need you to see too far ahead. He wants you to trust Him in the process. God is ordering your steps (Psalm 37:23) and making your path straight (Proverbs 3:6). Don't be ashamed in your weakness because it is in your weakness that God can show Himself strong (2 Corinthians 12:9). Take heart Beloved! Our King is faithful and He has already won for you! Enjoy the Present Moment In our western life, it is so easy to be busy. It is not always easy to slow down and rest when God calls us to rest. Your time of battle is over and God is leading you into rest for your wellbeing. He wants you to stop and smell the roses. He wants you to enjoy the present moment with your family and friends. You are saved by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and His Blood that was spilled at Calvary. Your value is complete in that while you were still a sinner, Jesus died for you (Romans 5:8). Now the old is gone and your identity is found in Christ Himself (2 Corinthians 5:17). Your life is made for His good pleasure and you will rest easy where He is leading you. Pray with me now: Lord God, thank You for bringing me into a place of rest. Your ways are higher and I acknowledge that Your ways are good. Thank You for protecting me. I trust Your guidance and I know that You want to provide for me.
